In late September Davide entered his second Queensbury rules boxing event. He travelled down to Milan to join this large amateur display and came back crowned with glorious experience.
He fought two fights, for the first he was unanimously awarded a win, even though his ‘unorthodox’ style caused much tension among the trainers and seated referees. The result of which was seen in his second bout.
A change of referee was ordered and a far stricter rule was put into place. Davide was constantly hounded by the the ref who criticized him for using our system’s cutting punch technique and for simultaneously defending and attacking. Even so Davide was points ahead until he executed a Bong Sao to Backfist move which allowed his opponent to win with a 1 point advantage.
Will Davide try to fight Queensbury rules again? Well he hasn’t decided yet, but the next fight lined up for January certainly isn’t.
Nice fight Davide, as always you made us proud.
