Body Knowledge: Bones and Muscles

As we train it is an good idea to know the basic muscles and bones involved in each movement.  It could be said that this is especially important for martial artists who are learning to both protect and attack them!

Having this knowledge also opens and strengthens our minds, perhaps this is the most important benefit. :)

  1. hi!
I was trying to find out something about muscular structure in Wing Chun, I mean, I would like to know wich muscles are “in use” and which are “off-line” during correct Wing Chun movements. I started studying Wing Chun a few months ago, and I noticed that effective movements for WCK are so similar to “normal” movements but, at the same time, completely different.
It seams you worked out this theme, could you explain which muscles make the body move in WCK? For example I noticed that for kicking we use the “psoas muscle”, but the first time I was taught to do it I didn’t believe it could be possible. It would be quite interesting to post something about it, wouldn’t it? please:)

  2. Good day Jappa. Thanks for taking the time to comment. :)

Looks can be deceiving! My posting of basic body knowledge, doesn’t mean I’ve worked out anything! I’m a simple practitioner who, like many others, is exploring Wing Chun Kuen through many different practical angles.

The demystified use of body structure within our art is an important part of this.
